Prepping for the Mission
| ||||
But I'm not yet done planning for the year. I've only come up with my mission statement...now it's time to start prepping for the mission. I'm now ready to work on writing my general goals for the year. When writing these, I will also incorporate my focus words; 'intentional and inspirational'.
Several years ago I came up with names of categories for my life. In order to easier remember those categories, I came up with this 'RESEARCH acronym'. RESEARCH is actually a great term for me because I believe that the best way to succeed in setting and accomplishing goals is to actually do your research.
So here's what my acronym 'RESEARCH' stands for:
R- Relationships
E- Economics
S- Spirituality
E- Environment
A- Artistry
R- Recreation
C- Career and calling
H- Health
Now, I'll take each of these eight areas and write a general goal for them using my focus words.
Here's a few examples:
Environment: Using my philosophy of small steps, I will intentionally create a positive, relaxing, comfortable, organized and clean environment to maximize my enjoyment of life and inspire others to do the same.
Health: I will intentionally focus on incorporating more healthy choices and wellness actions in order to enrich my life, and inspire others to do the same.
.....and then I continue on with the other six other categories of my life.
So how about you? Do you have a mission for 2014? Does this sound like something you would like to do? If not, why not? If you've never been a goal setter, or found that it's never worked for you before, I urge you to be open to the idea and start today.
Summing it up:
Determine your focus words
Write a mission statement to include focus words
Create your main categories of your life
Write general goals for each of your categories, including your focus word/s.
