The Sisterhood
| Sisterhood is powerful" Robin Morgan |
My sisters and I have started a tradition. In the fall we leave the husbands, the kids and the dogs and head to Phoenix for a weekend filled with leisure, relaxation and just plain fun.
We arrived on Friday, and thanks to a generous gift from my daughter and son in law, we checked in to a lovely casita at an upscale resort.
Over the weekend we enjoyed several walks in the desert, sipped on wine at sun down, treated ourselves to pedicures at the spa, shopped a little, ate a lot, and even snuck out under the cover of darkness to soak in the jacuzzi. All the while we talked, we listened, we giggled, we teased,we shared stories from our past, and goals and dreams for our future. In the early mornings you could find us sitting out on our private patio, still in our 'jamies', indulging in Starbucks coffee and muffins, brainstorming solutions to each others challenges We talked about our latest theories of life. We encouraged one another. We sympathized and empathized and showered one another with support.
After spending a few days with my sisters, I felt like I had pulled up to a gas station and re-filled my tank. I left inspired and motivated to live more intentionally, and take more responsibility for my life and my own happiness. There is just nothing like getting together with the girls to reboot my engine and ignite the fire.
As I was saying my goodbyes on Sunday, I mentioned I hadn't written my blog for the week and wondered what my topic would be. I heard them shout and laugh as they drove away.....Do it on the Sisterhood!
